Enrichment Classes

Dates: September 30 - October 31

Classes Offered:

• Sign-It (Tues $70)- In this class, children will have the opportunity to learn and practice a variety of basic signs and phrases.  Children  will participate in games, songs, and engaging activities to help them familiarize and retain their new signs.  We will  introduce fingerspelling, basic greetings, colors, feelings, family, foods, and things around school.  Children will  come home from each session with a mini book showing the signs they’ve practiced.  
• Tennis Titans (Weds $85))- What’s all that “racquet”? Coach Amanda (A Certified tennis instructor and owner of "Tennis Titans") provides a new way to play and learn tennis. This program is tailored for kids of all abilities using kid friendly equipment. This class is full of activities, exercises and fun tennis games that use special equipment to build up physical ‘ABCs’ (Agility, Balance, Co-ordination), as well as basic technique. 
• Color My World (Thurs or Fri $70)-  Color is so important in our world. What would we do if everything was the same color? We will “color our world” as we combine science and art focusing on the concepts of primary colors, secondary colors, color mixing and the color pattern of the rainbow.  Our explorations will include different techniques for making or own rainbows as we explore the science behind this colorful light show.

Classes Offered:

• Holiday Crafts (Mon, Tues or Thurs $80) -  It’s time to get in the holiday spirit! In this class we will create wonderful holiday decorations for you to cherish for years to come. Whether it’s fall décor, or a Christmas ornament, your child will love using several different art processes to construct their project.  Although this class was offered last year, all projects are different to allow for children to take the class again and enjoy "The most wonderful time of the year".   *Please note that this class is more expensive due to the supplies needed. 
• Meet Pete (Weds $70) -  We’ll be getting groovy with Pete the Cat in this fun filled character study. We’ll jam through classic Pete stories like “I love My White Shoes” and “Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons” as well as some of Pete’s more obscure titles like “Construction Destruction!” We’ll even celebrate Thanksgiving with “The first Thanksgiving”. Each week we will introduce a new Pete book, language or math learning activity, and related craft. We’ll have so much fun with that groovy cat Pete! 

Dates: January 13 - February 13

Classes Offered:

• Fun with Phonics (Mon $56) 4-Weeks only -  Phonics is the relationship between letters and sounds. This class is designed for children that already recognize their capital and lowercase letters. We will explore rhymes, sounds, and syllables through the use of games, songs & group activities. 
• Alphabet Soup (Tues $70)-Do you know your ABC’s? Children will be introduced to phonemic awareness (a crucial element in learning to read) through games, crafts, songs, rhymes, and other play activities. The children will learn to recognize capital and lowercase letters as well as their sounds. Each session builds on the previous session.
• Super Science Concoctions (Weds $70) -   Fizz, gurgle, bubble, and brew these are only a few things that we will do. We will explore the wondrous world of science by using well known household ingredients to make mysterious mixtures that illustrate changes in form and chemical composition. So, grab your lab coats and let’s start mixing up some “Super Science Concoctions”.

• Yoga (Thurs/Fri $70) This class will be taught by Ms. Allison, a certified yoga instructor. The children will work towards improving strength and flexibility through yoga poses that are taught in an engaging and interactive manner. Children will also learn multiple techniques to help with concentration and relaxation, that they can apply in their everyday lives 

Dates: February 23 - March 26 (No class 3/17 PT off)

Classes Offered:

• Messy Art (Mon or Tues $70)- Grab your smocks and paintbrushes as we get down and dirty with this fun and exciting art class. We will be making art projects with our hands, feet, toys, recyclables and more! Make sure you don’t send us to school in nice clothes on Messy art days because we will be getting…MESSY!
• Let's Talk Cents (Weds $70) Pre-K ONLY- This class will focus on coin identification, the value of each coin and what makes a coin a coin. We will even learn about how coins are made. Each week we will introduce a new coin through the use of books, games, activities and worksheets. We can’t wait to make “Cents” out of money.
• Mini Math (Thurs $70)-  Calling all mini-mathematicians! This class provides great exposure to Common Core math concepts in a fun environment. We will focus on number sense, number recognition, 1:1 correspondence, rote counting, as well as acting out story problems in order to introduce addition and subtraction concepts. You can “count” on having a good time.

Dates: April 9 - May 15 (No class 4/23 or 4/24 PT conferences)

Classes Offered:

• Little Sprouts (Mon, Thurs, or Fri $70) -  Watch us grow as we dig into the science behind planting a garden.  We can't wait to get our hands dirty as we explore the life cycle of a plant by planting seeds in our green house.  We will talk about what it takes to grow a plant and the importance of worms and insects.  The class will germinate the seeds for the Cornerstone gardens and bring home some seedlings to create a garden of our own.
